Game Contest Entries

by Charlie Calvert

The game contest entries for February have all been submitted. I'm pleased to say that there are a number excellent coding examples in this collection of programs. In fact, some of the entries are very impressive!

We had submissions from England, the US, Russia, New Zealand and many other parts of the globe. There were nine Delphi entries, two CBuilder entries, and no Java entries.

Go here to find the winners of this contest.

For my own use, I have grouped all the source files together into one set of directories, and I have created a single package containing all of the components. If you want, you can download the individual entries and set them up for yourself, or you can use my arrangement of the files. My version of the Pascal entries are found in PascalFlame.zip. I found it easier to keep the two C++ entries in two separate files, found here and here.

Here are the original submissions from the brave contest entrants for the January best flame contest :

Take a look at the examples and see what you think.

Go here if you need to download the glut dlls for use with the OpenGL examples.

If you have any comments about the contest, or if you want to make suggestions, please feel free to write me.

This is a rather -- um-- minimal example in Pascal. However, the author was actually much more clever than one might at first suppose. If this had been the Java entry, it would have won the contest, since it would have been the only entry in that category. Had it been the C++ entry, it would have won third place, since it would have been one of only three entries in that contest. Java programmers looking for free Borland product might want to take heed of these facts.
