There will be two contests for programmers this month. The first contest will be in the games and graphics area, and the second in web development. If you submit the winning entry in the Java, C++ or Pascal area for either the graphics or web development contests then you will receive a prize. If we have entries in all areas, then there will be six winners announced, two for JBuilder, two for Delphi and two for CBuilder.
The winners of the contests will be receiving their choice of a pro level copy of C++Builder, Delphi or JBuilder. The entries must be submitted to my mailbox by April 15.
The game contest will be for the person who can create the best fractal generator. We are looking for mandelbrot sets, julia sets, or fractal generation of natural objects such as landscapes, trees, ferns, flowers, etc. Entries are being accepted in the CBuilder, Delphi and JBuilder programmer areas. The code should compile inside of these tools, and it is preferred that you create components or beans that encapsulate the core functionality of your entries. Well written objects are also acceptable, the key point being that we want to see easily reusable code encapsulated inside a component or object.
The other contest this month will be for web development tools. In the CBuilder and Delphi areas we are looking for extensions to the Web Broker or the Internet Express technologies. The JBuilder contest will focus on any kind of bean that entrants feel will enhance the ability of JBuilder to work with the web.
Before submitting your entry, be sure to read the rules for the contest. If you have suggestions on ways to improve the contest, or if you are seeking clarification on the rules, feel free to write me.
