The Borland Community Offers Money for Technical Articles!

The Borland Community is looking for content to be published on our web site. We will pay $25 for short items of 500 words or less, $250 for longer articles in the range of 500 to 10,000 words, and possibly more for special articles of particular significance to our audience.

All articles, submissions, and queries should be sent via EMAIL, and in HTML format. After reading the rest of this document, reading the attached submission rules, and preparing your text, just click on this link to submit an article via EMAIL. Address the article to ccalvert@borland.com, and be sure the subject field of your article submission says "Borland Community Article Submission."

Right now, we are up against a deadline. We want to publish at least 50 articles, perhaps as many as 100 articles, before the end of March! That means we are definitely interested in finding people who can get us articles in short order. If you have been looking for ways to become a published author who is paid for your work, this is a great opportunity. If you are an experienced writer who wants to make a little extra change, the opportunity to do so is wide open. Please get your articles in as soon as possible! The earlier the better!

If you have skills as a writer and programmer, we are interested in publishing your articles on the http://community.borland.com site. We are  looking for articles on Borland products, primarily C++Builder, Delphi, JBuilder, InterBase and the enterprise products. Other technical articles of direct interest to our readers may also be considered under certain circumstances. For instance, articles on hot topics such as XML, Python, Linux programming, etc, will have a chance of catching our eye. However, you will have much better odds of being paid for your work if you show how to link these hot technologies with a Borland product.

The process for submitting articles is simple. If you are writing a short item of 500 words or less, just submit the entire article, and our editors will decide if it is worthy of payment. If you are submitting a longer article, query us first with your article idea and a sample of your writing, and we will get back to you regarding the feasibility of publishing the article. If you are a published author with a significant reputation in the industry, then we may consider paying you more than $250 per article. Query us ahead of time to ask about this possibility.

Click here to read a separate document that details the requirements for the article content and the proper procedure for article submission.

This particular opportunity is open to non-Borland employees only.  If you are a Borland employee, and want to be paid for an article, you may contact me to ask about opportunities to be paid for your work.

As with everything we do on our site, the overall goal is to try to provide a service to our world wide developer community. As a result, we would appreciate your cooperation and good will as we try to bring as much technical content as possible to the millions of developers who use our tools!

One last point before closing this article. It is true that right now we are definitely hot to get articles published before the end of March. However, in the long term, we are interested in establishing an ongoing relationship with talented writers. Prove to us that you can submit good material, and over time we will try to establish a commitment to your work that will hopefully be rewarding to you, to Borland, and to developers everywhere.
