Utopia uses Delphi and one of our support guy's

Utopia Temple, an online game edit thingy for Utopia, has an automation program to control some of the settings. It is very cooly written in delphi, and Justin Swett from Borland Developer Support is now one of the active developers on the project. very cool!

AQTime 4 rocks!

I just wanted to tell everyone that I really like Automated QA's AQTime 4. It is really sweet. I can profile tons of things, and it doesn't matter what the language; Delphi, C, C++, C#, Delphi .NET. Believe me..this is a good thing. The IDE and compiler are getting speed improvements right now :)

Unicycle riding on the Borland Campus

Well, today I was told I cannot ride my unicycle at the Borland Campus. How sad is that!

I mean, the campus (no longer owned by Borland, by the way), has no policy stating that people cannot ride unicycles on campus. They do have rules about no pets, no bicycles, no scooters, but, alas, no non-unicycle rules!

So, I've contacted our facilities manager to look into the situation.

Having a no bicycle policy (or unicycle, for that matter) on a campus is silly. Many, many people ride their bikes to and from work (or unicycles...if the case is me). Saying we can't do this is like saying to not drive a car to work. Just silly. Anyways..just my two cents.

DirectX development with C#Builder

I just downloaded the latest Dx SDK from MS: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1d97f320-9dfd-4e7a-b947-3a037ccf84af&languageid=f49e8428-7071-4979-8a67-3cffcb0c2524&displaylang=en

it is cool! you can open up the vs.net projects in C#Builder and compile them without a problem. It took me a second to find them: C:\DXSDK\Samples\C#

I think i'm going to be writing some cool DirectX apps this weekend in .NET :)

SpamCop - are they being too protective?

So, I just got an email from someone at SpamCop (http://www.spamcop.net/).

I have an auto-responder setup on several of my domain name email address (www.bluetreesoft.com), to tell people to use my home address. This helps prevent spam. Plus, I removed all my addresses from my web pages (again, another helpful thing).

However, the auto-responder sometimes responds to viruses sent out to that address, and here is what I got from SpamCop:

Subject: Automatic reply from general@bluetreesoft.com
From: "automated reply" general@bluetreesoft.com

The autoresponder is sending mail to spamtrap addresses that feed our complaint
database, which puts your host's mail server, 64.41.126.229 = cmlapp16.siteprotect.com,
on our blocking list. A spamtrap is an unused address whose sole reason for existence is to see if people will send unsolicited mail to it.

Please disable the autoresponder.

The return address on spam and virus mail is *always* forged
these days, so there's no point in sending that notice. It
only goes to an innocent bystander who doesn't know anything
about the problem, and may even report the notice as spam.

Thanks!

- Don -

Now!!!! I can't disable it. People still email me at those addresses (for shareware that I've written, like WallChanger), and I want them to get ahold of me. Basically, I'm out of luck and doomed to get my service provider's ISP blacklisted by SpamCop.

I no longer like SpamCop.

Okay..I will change the format soon.

I know, I know...I selected a default HTML page format from Blogger. I really do know HTML, and I have this really cool HTML editor and WYSYWIG designer (aka, D8). I'll fire it up sometime soon and tweak the layout to actually look nice and pretty.

On a Delphi side note, I'm working on some really cool things :)

Team Subby

In case you haven't seen this picture (it is embedded in D8...somewhere), I figure I'd share it with you all. Yes, us Borland-ites tend to like Subaru's. Mine is the black one...which I bought from Subaru of Santa Cruz. It's a WRX STi. 300 ponies under the hood. Yeah!
